First, we want to say thank you for being an amazing community of like-minded people who come together to push the limits of work and play and to support each other. This family has made us proud so many times and it’s all because each one of you has contributed to making it special.
10 years of countless fun adventures all around the world have inspired us to expand into startup competitions, technology summits, and many other new areas.
We are excited to now enter into a new phase in the evolution of MaiTai:
Susi will embark on a new venture to create experiences focused on the curated gathering of extraordinary athletes, innovators, and artists around the shared love for kiteboarding, adventures and our oceans.
Bill will continue to operate the nonprofit, focusing on events centered around its nonprofit mission to support education and ocean conservation.
Susi is launching SUSI MAI, which will organize events that will serve as the primary forum where members of the MaiTai family continue to gather for destination events.
To stay in the loop as we launch this next phase, please sign up now at www.susimai.com
Bill will remain at the helm of the nonprofit corporation under a new brand name, which will continue to operate educational forums such as the Extreme Tech Challenge contest and the Blockchain Summit and support ocean conservation through donations and direct action, such as the ongoing campaign to designate the Abrolhos Islands in Western Australia as a “Hope Spot” sanctuary.
What does this mean for…
MAUI: Susi will organize a smaller event on Maui this year, taking it back to the roots and re-grouping with our core members. This event will be more intimate, more of an old class reunion. We will have limited space & so we appreciate your understanding.
CABARETE: This event will be the next big gathering for the community in Susi’s hometown and kiteboarding mecca in the Dominican Republic. We are excited to announce that we are working to finalize an agreement to bring the World Kiteboarding League back to Cabarete this year, and you can join in the action up close and personal. The competition dates are planned for July 17 - 23, followed by the SUSI MAI Kite Week on July 24 - 27. More info will be in our launch-letter which you can receive by signing up at www.susimai.com.
XTC CONTEST: The nonprofit has launched the 2017-2018 version of the XTCContest on March 25th, with feeder events planned for Norway, Beijing, Australia, Las Vegas and the British Virgin Islands later this year, with dates to be announced.
We are excited to continue this journey with you all,
Susi and Bill
